Battery Suspect Apprehended at Unrelated Call for Service

On 4/2/21, Chico Police Officers were sent to interview an assault victim at an undisclosed local medical facility. When Officers arrived, they learned that the victim suffered injuries so severe that the victim required an immediate life-flight to another medical facility by helicopter. The subject’s medical condition was described as critical.
Patrol Officers soon identified the suspect as Shea McKinney (36 years old). Patrol Officers attempted to locate the suspect throughout 4/2/21. On 4/3/21, Officers were arresting a subject for public intoxication at 2485 Notre Dame Blvd. A responding Patrol Officer observed McKinney’s vehicle in the parking lot near the arresting Officer. He then located McKinney walking away from the vehicle. McKinney was taken into custody without incident by the observant Patrol Officer. McKinney was arrested for 243(d) of the California Penal Code: Battery Causing Serious Bodily Injury.
