Barricaded Subject- Domestic Violence

On 5/19/2020 at approximately 1915 hours, Chico Police Officers were dispatched to Motel 6, 665 Manzanita Ct., for a report of a domestic dispute. Officers arrived and contacted the victim. After speaking to the victim Officers learned she had been the victim of misdemeanor domestic violence. Officers at scene, specially trained in negotiations, contacted the male suspect via telephone. The suspect was alone, intoxicated, and refused to come out of his motel room due to a fear of going to jail. Motel guests near the suspects room were temporarily evacuated for their safety. Negotiations took place for several hours but the suspect continued to refuse to come out of the room to speak with Officers. There was no exigency to remove the suspect from the room so Officers cleared the scene. A request for an arrest warrant will be sent to the Butte County District Attorney’s Office.
