Assault on an Officer Arrest
On Tuesday, February 21, around 11:30 p.m. the Chico Police Dispatch Center received a call regarding a trespasser at the Pallet Shelter who was identified as 28-year-old Steven Hodges.
Several Officers were dispatched due to the fact Hodges has three felony warrants. Upon arrival, Officers located Hodges outside of the Torres Shelter. He attempted to flee but Officers were able to contain him to a parking lot. While attempting to de-escalate the situation and take Hodges into custody, Hodges resisted arrest by actively fighting with the Officers. During the altercation, Hodges pulled out a knife and attempted to stab a Chico Police Officer. Fortunately, the Officer spotted the knife prior to being stabbed and responding Officers were able to use non-lethal force to disarm Hodges.
Hodges was taken into custody for the following crimes:
- 69 PC, resisting arrest by means of threat or violence
- 245c PC assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm upon a peace officer
- 417.8 PC Person exhibiting a deadly weapon with the intent to resist or prevent arrest on a peace officer
- 12022.1(a) PC Person out on bail, commits a new felony
Previous Warrants:
- Felon in possession of a firearm and resisting arrest
- Possession of a dirk or dagger
- Person out on bail, committing a new felony
