Case # 23-007873
On 11/19/2023, around 6:50 PM, Chico Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a subject who had been stabbed inside an apartment in the 1200 block of Stewart Avenue. Multiple officers responded to the scene and located a male victim who was suffering non-life-threatening stab wounds. Officers also learned the female suspect was still inside the victim’s apartment and was possibly still armed with a knife.
All available resources were deployed to the scene to manage the situation. Ultimately, the Crisis Response Unit, which includes SWAT, the Crisis Negotiation Team, the Butte County Interagency Bomb Squad, and the UAS (drone) team, responded to negotiate a safe ending to the situation. After approximately four hours on scene, the suspect, identified as Genalee Lana of Chico, was contacted at the front door of the apartment and successfully taken into custody without incident or injuries. Lana was placed under arrest for Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Trespassing. She was ultimately booked into the Butte County Jail for the listed charges.
