Assault with a Deadly Weapon

On August 11th, 2023, around 7:40 p.m., the Chico Police Dispatch Center received a call regarding a firearm being discharged inside an apartment at 2581 California Park Drive (Lakeview Apartments). It was reported one individual had shot another in the apartment.

Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Officers detained the suspect without incident. Officers located a subject suffering from a single gunshot wound inside the apartment building. Officers provided emergency medical assistance until EMS arrived on scene. The subject was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

A child was located inside the apartment who was present during the incident. The child was unharmed and was later turned over to a family member via Child Services Department (CSD).

The firearm was located within the apartment and collected as evidence.

The shooting suspect was ultimately arrested for assault with a deadly weapon (245PC), child endangerment (273aPC), and domestic violence (273.5PC).

At the time of this press release, the subject was listed to be in stable condition.
