Arrest for Possession of Stolen Property

On 3/26/22 at approximately 0936 hrs. CPD Dispatch received a call from a citizen reporting their smartphone was taken from an unlocked vehicle in a north Chico neighborhood. The citizen advised they were able to track the location of the smartphone to a transient camp in the Lindo Channel. Officers responded in an attempt to locate the victim’s cell phone. During an area check, Officers located a camp inhabited by 40 year old Theodore Brockmeyer. During a search of the camp, officers located the victim’s cell phone. Brockmeyer attempted to flee the scene and led officers on a brief foot pursuit. He was captured behind a nearby business without further incident. Brockmeyer was found to be on Post Release Supervision for Burglary, and was wanted on a felony warrant related to violating the terms of his release.
Several additional items located in Brockmeyer‘s camp were confirmed as being stolen. Brockmeyer was arrested for felony Possession of Stolen Property, Felon in Possession of Pepper Spray, and Resisting Officers. Brockmeyer was transported to the Butte County Jail for booking.
