Armed Suspect Arrested

On March 23rd, 2022, at approximately 11:40 AM, detectives with the Chico Police Department’s Violence Suppression Unit (VSU) located a vehicle occupied by JORGE LOPEZ (23) in the area of W. Sacramento Avenue and Nord Avenue, Chico. LOPEZ was subject to a felony arrest warrant for unlawfully being armed with a firearm, brandishing a firearm, and making criminal threats while endangering a child. A high-risk traffic stop was conducted. LOPEZ was contacted and arrested without incident. LOPEZ was in possession of a loaded pistol and narcotics at the time of his arrest.

A search warrant was later served at LOPEZ’ residence. Investigators located an additional loaded pistol, narcotics, and evidence of narcotics sales.

The following additional charges were requested with the Butte County District Attorney’s Office: Prohibited person in possession of a firearm Transporting a loaded, concealed pistol in a vehicle Possession of narcotics for sale.
