On April 11, 2021, at about 1:06 a.m., a Chico Police Officer was
on patrol in the area of Forest Avenue and E. 20th Street. The
officer conducted a proactive enforcement stop of a passing
motorist for a vehicle code infraction. The officer contacted the
sole occupant of the vehicle, Dominic Lamont Wood (age 33).
The officer developed probable cause to search Wood and his vehicle. The officer located methamphetamine on Wood’s person. In the vehicle the officer recovered a fully loaded .45 caliber handgun. The serial number had been removed from the gun.
Wood was arrested for violations of sections 11370.1(a) H&S-Armed while Possessing a Controlled Substance, 25850(a) PC-Carrying a Loaded Firearm in Public, 29800(a)(1) PC-Addict in Possession of a Firearm, 12094(a) PC-Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number, and 11377(a) H&S-Possession of Methamphetamine. Wood was booked into the Butte County Jail.
