Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

On Wednesday, November 1, 2023, Chico Police Officers responded to a business on Esplanade and E. Eaton Road for a reported armed robbery.

The victim reported that a male subject, armed with a knife, took cash and personal property prior to fleeing.

While officers were arriving in the area, they learned the suspect also attempted to rob a second business but was unsuccessful. Officers located the suspect, later identified as Amare Norman, in a nearby ditch and detained him after a short foot pursuit.

K9 Pax did an article search of the area and located evidence at the scene. Amare was positively identified as the suspect in both incidents. He was also identified as the suspect in an armed robbery that took place at another business in the 1300 block of East Ave. on October 30, 2023.

Amare was subsequently taken into custody and will be taken to Butte County Jail.
