The 2023 Annual Road Rehabilitation Project includes grind and overlay work on East Avenue, west of State Route (SR) 99 to the Esplanade; El Paso Way from East Avenue to White Avenue; and full-depth reclamation (FDR) on East Avenue, east of SR 99 to Cohasset Road. Slurry seal treatment will also occur on all four legs of the intersection of East Avenue and Esplanade. Additional work also includes the installation of storm drain facilities, streetlights, a pedestrian hybrid beacon at the intersection of Airport Bike Path and East Avenue, curb ramps, sidewalk improvements, minor landscaping, striping, and signage.
Beginning the week of June 12, 2023, the City of Chico’s contractor, Knife River Construction, will begin construction work on the Project.
Local access through the project construction zone will be subject to traffic controls, temporary delays, detours, and closures in order to accommodate construction crews and equipment. Night work should also be expected. Drivers are encouraged to build extra time into their schedules or plan alternate routes to avoid the project area if possible. The associated road work with the project is anticipated to be completed in September 2023.
Construction is anticipated to begin in June 12, 2023 and be completed September 2023.
Funding for this project came from the Gas Tax Fund and the Public Infrastructure Fund.
