On 06/15/2020 at 1:08 am, a Chico Police Officer was arresting a subject on outstanding warrants at the intersection W. 9th St. and Main St. A female subject walked up to the officer during this arrest and offered to take possession of the arrestee’s property since the two of them were friends. The officer asked the female for her name so he could document it in his report. The female provided a false name with a no records match. The officer grew suspicious of the female and asked her if she had any narcotics on her person. The female admitted to having methamphetamine in her backpack. She was detained and a search of her backpack yielded over two ounces of methamphetamine, narcotics paraphernalia, pepper spray and $800 in cash. There was also an identification card with her true name, Melissa Britt, (39 y/o). Britt had a felony warrant for her arrest and was a convicted felon making it illegal for her to possess pepper spray. Britt was arrested for the following charges:
11378 H&S – Methamphetamine for sale
11379 H&S- Transportation of methamphetamine
22810 PC- Felon in possession of pepper spray
