RECRUITIMENT DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR AIRPORT COMMISSION, ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW & HISTORIC PRESERVATION BOARD, AND CLIMATE ACTION COMMISSION – ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5:00 PM, MONDAY, APRIL 12, 2021 

The Chico City Council is seeking applications from volunteers to serve on the City of Chico’s Board and Commissions.  Applicants must be residents of the City of Chico and qualified voters (18 years or older).  Persons may apply to one or more of the following Boards or Commissions:  Airport Commission, Architectural Review and Historic Preservation Board, and Climate Action Commission.  All appointments will be four-year terms beginning January 2021, and expiring January 2025.

Applications are available from the City Clerk’s Office, 411 Main Street, 3rd Floor and on the City’s website, www.ci.chico.ca.us.  Please call 896-7250 if you have any questions.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE CITY CLERK’S OFFICE BY 5:00 P.M. MONDAY, APRIL 12, 2021.

All Applications must include the corresponding supplemental questionnaire for the Board or Commission for which they are applying

The City of Chico currently has six advisory bodies which are the Airport Commission, Architectural Review and Historical Preservation Board, Arts Commission, Bidwell Park and Playground Commission, Climate Action Commission, and Planning Commission.

Advisory bodies play an important role in City Government by assisting and advising the City Council in formulating and implementing policy. Advisory bodies also develop recommendations and present supporting information to the City Council.

Mission Statement

Recommend policy direction and guidance to the City Council to ensure the vitality, growth, and operation of the airport for the benefit of the community, to meet regional needs, and to carry out the Commission’s responsibilities in accordance with the Charter.

Mission Statement

Excellence in the arts is a reflection of the health and quality of life in a community. The purpose of the Arts Commission is to serve as an advisory body for aesthetic treatments, memorials, gifts, and tourism related items.

Climate Action Commission

The Climate Action Commission serves as an advisory body to the City Council on all matters related to climate action, adaption, and resiliency, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions consistent with State goals through preparation and maintenance of a Climate Action Plan.

Mission Statement

The Planning Commission shall serve as a trustworthy steward of community resources by performing its duties in a manner to assure the City’s General Plan is consistently applied and that thought and consideration is given to the input and perspectives of all parties.
