HOW TO GET STARTED:

  1. Have a group of 10 or more? Please contact Shane Romain, Park Services Coordinator prior to the workday at (530) 896-7831 email:parkinfo@chicoca.gov
  2. Volunteers under 18 need to have a parent/guardian release form signed prior to work. Download: Volunteer Application
  3. Dress in layers for the weather and wear Closed-toed shoes; bring your own water bottle and work gloves if you have them.

 

City of Chico Parks and Greenways Volunteer Calendar

The City of Chico, Parks Division is committed to helping ensure that volunteers have a rewarding and positive experience during their volunteer work.  The Volunteer Program welcomes all members of the public. In addition to volunteering in Bidwell Park, the City also needs your help in our creeks, greenways and other specialty parks. Tools, instruction, and water is provided onsite—please bring your own water container.

Volunteers will prune vegetation to improve access along a trail. Meet at the parking lot at 444 Otterson Drive. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water. For more information, call Susan at (530) 321-3406.

Saturday, October 14th (8 am to 11 am) Chico Community Watch, Biweekly Lindo Channel Cleanup. Meeting location is the bridge at Esplanande and Lindo Channel nest to Chico Nut. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring gloves & water. For more information, call Dan at (530) 518-6628

Saturday, October 14th (9AM-12PM) Water Quality in Big Chico Creek

Join The Stream Team citizen scientists in conducting water quality assessments to track the health of Big Chico Creek. Meet at Five Mile Picnic Area Parking Lot (Centennial Way) at 9AM. Free, and training is provided. Wear shoes and clothes that can get wet. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Annual Volunteer Thank-you Picnic following this event. Sunday, October 15 (10 am to 1 pm) One Mile Volunteer Session near the Sycamore Baseball Field- meet Friends of Bidwell Park at the baseball field parking lot near the Group Picnic area. Work area is right next to the parking lot.Volunteers will prune vegetation and remove invasive weeds to improve health of the area and visability. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water. We will start working in the area north of of the baseball field near the creek.Volunteers will prune vegetation and remove invasive weeds to improve health of the area and visibility. Saturday, October 28th (9 am to noon) Make a Difference Day in Chico's Parks and Greenways!
