How is this Information Used?

The City of Chico in conjunction with the Butte County Association of Governments (BCAG) uses 24 hour counts averaged over a span of 3 days to generate a yearly Traffic Flow Map. Each year, the data collected is used by the Traffic Engineering Department to evaluate the need for road improvements, traffic signal installations, traffic signal modifications, analyze roadway capacity, and bike and pedestrian projects. Yearly counts are also used to calibrate the City of Chico Traffic Demand Model which shows the future demand of a given roadway using the zoning of that area.
